Adoption Anniversary

Before last year March 26th did not mean anything to me, it was just another day.
Last year on March 26th my husband and I took 2 little boys to a courthouse, we met a judge, she talked to us.
P cried.
 Fudge was scared.
Calvin clung to me.
I had goosebumps.
Their older brother took the day off.
My sister and her children came from afar.
The social worker who apprehended them and then found them an adoptive home came.
The judge signed the papers.
They legally became our sons.
These boys we had grown to love were ours now and forever.
It was a good day.
It has been a year of
cheeky boys who are quickly growing into young men
of dishes, spilled juice and spilled emotions.
of laundry off the line and learning where lines should be.
of journeys with and without shoes
of specks of light in even the darkest moments

and of clinging to the hope that healing will come just as spring does after the darkness of winter.

Congratulations! You are doing a great job. Healing does come- just not as fast as we'd like.
