Making gifts

I got word exactly 7 days ago that there would be a baby shower today for a friend of mine. It was all very last minute and that is fine if you are not the kind of person who likes to make gifts. I am the kind of person who likes to make gifts and given all that was going on there was no way that I could of started knitting anything bigger than a hat and get it finished so I switched to sewing and came up with this. It is double flannel blanket with loops for toys.

It was a really quick project, it only took me 2 hours start to finish. If I took more time to make straight seams it might of taken a bit longer. But I am lazy like that I I know that no will be critical so I am okay with crooked.

I had made a blanket like this before ( I made them for my sisters kids) but the loops are new. I thought that attaching loops for toys would just make life easier. I used bits of flannel because I did not have any ribbon that I thought would be up to the job in the right colours but I think ribbon would of looked nicer. The blanket is roughly a meter square, big enough to cover up with or to put down on the floor
 for the babe to lie

I going to the the shower tonight and I just finished it, nothing like getting it done at the last minute. Now I am off to find some clean clothes as we have a meeting with our social worker today for our homestudy and going in my pj`s or my dirty gardening shorts really is not an option.

The flannel blanket with loops is a great idea - I like how you attached the toys as part of the gift. Homestudy??? You too? Everyone's doing it, apparently!

I love the blanket :-) What a great project. It seems I am always behind on the homemade variety. I am still working away on the blanket for my great nefew and he is six months old :p Perhaps in the future I'll have to think about sewing instead of knitting or crocheting.
