well

There are posts in my head that I want to get out, there are posts that I have started that I want to finish, there is laundry to do, dinner to make and yet none of it is happening. It just seems as though other things matter more.

A very dear friend gave birth to a stillborn baby early this morning. We all knew she would not live, she had trisomy 18 and a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. When R went into labour last night they all hoped that that baby Lily would survive long enough for her siblings to meet her. It was not to be.

We went to see R and H at the hospital this afternoon. We do not believe in hiding death from our children so they came along, we prepared them as best we could, we knew that all of R and H's children had also been there. It was hard, really hard for all of us and it is going to be a long hard week while funerals and prayers are attended.

Our kids are coping and their kids are coping in the ways that kids do. The adults are coping, cooking meals and calling one another, hugging and holding one another while we cry. Our church community is strong and we will help one another through this, but the death of a child is never easy for anyone.

I am going to cope by cooking, by feeding that family because there is little else I can do.
